An update from SOTO NZ president, Dr. Rosina Walker (B.Chiro)- May 2025

For our final event of 2025, we are so excited to bring you the "Below The Belt" seminar.

This is a seminar that Dr. Fiona Haughie, Dr. Sam Haitsma & myself have been talking about putting together for years, and it's finally happening! Join us for a dive deep into the pelvis, looking at the S.I. joints including rehabilitation, the anatomy & physiology of the pelvis and pelvic floor, and some nocturnal enuresis case studies with primitive reflex integration. I will also be presenting some advanced C.M.R.T reflex work, including some of my favourite adjustments, that have not been taught here in Aotearoa before.

We are very excited to be joined by Bernadette Nolan, women's pelvic health physiotherapist and holistic pelvic health practitioner, and, Angeline Ramsey, massage therapist with over 30 years experience in integrative massage and bodywork. Angeline is a ATSi practitioner, and teaches Dru Yoga and Dru breathwork, focusing on fascial connections.

Join us for a fun-filled, great educational day, here in the sunny Hawkes Bay. Make a long weekend of it and enjoy some of our wonderful vineyards & scenery.

This is first in the Sacro-occipital Technique (SOT) 'Basic' Series - It is a 2-day event held on 22nd-23rd March 2026 at our very own New Zealand College of Chiropractic, in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Please note, you can register now for the full series, or just the categories seminar.

Categories is a prerequisite for most other SOT workshops and events. This content is vital to understanding material of subsequent workshops.

This event is hands-on, however your brain will get a good workout too!

You will learn the anatomy and physiology of the three SOT 'category' systems, and adjusting techniques developed for each subluxation pattern- Each 'category' has different needs. This is a great analysis-tool to quickly let you know when your adjusting techniques needs to be tailored for an individual, and how to do so.

Learn the effects of S-I joint dysfunction on the dura, CSF and hence proper neural function. SOT-trained  practitioners are particularly focused on restoring normal S-I joint function, and improving CSF flow.

This seminar explores the concept of sacral-occipital motion, CSF fluid dynamics,  S-I joint anatomy. You will learn pre-blocking and blocking procedures (as as developed and researched by Major De Jarnette).

The dates of the rest of the series and SOTONZ events are:

    CMRT: May 1-2 2026

    Cranials: August 1-2 2026

    Exams: July 31 2026

Membership Directory

SOT has been an active technique in Aotearoa New Zealand since 1945 (that we know of!).

There are chiropractors all around the motu that use blocks, adjust the cranial system, have been to seminars here or internationally, are SOT certified, teach SOT, love SOT, use it occasionally, or use it all the time.

We figured it was time to find you all and help us connect ourselves and patients with SOT options in NZ!  Search here to find a chiropractor holding a membership with us
